Applying Two Different Colored Eye Shadows

Last updated 1 day 11 hours ago

When you are a makeup artist, it’s your job to help your client look and feel her best! Applying two different colors of eye shadow can accentuate your client’s features for a natural and beautiful look. Watch this video to learn more.

Choose two eye shadows that are flattering for your client’s skin tone and desired effect. Apply the lighter eye shadow to the inside half of the eyelid and right under the arch of the brow. Use the darker color towards the outside of the eye, and blend the two together for a shimmering, flattering look.

You’ll learn all about applying eye shadow and other makeup techniques when you attend Capri Cosmetology Learning Centers in New York. Give us a call at (845) 536-5046 or stop by one of our two conveniently located campuses to find out more about our programs.

    How Does Microdermabrasion Work?

    Last updated 10 days ago

Beauty school teaches you a wide range of skills that help you start a successful career. When you learn skills that help you keep your clients looking their best, you will always be in demand. By learning how to preform microdermabrasion, you can give your clients smooth, clear complexions that keep them coming back. Keep reading to learn the basics of this skin care procedure:

Remove the Outer Layer of Skin

If a client’s skin has scars, patches of discoloration, or even sun damage, microdermabrasion can help. This process can also help treat surface-level wrinkles, large pores, and acne. Using a specialized tool, the top layer of skin is scrubbed off, leaving room for new, healthy skin to grow. The body works quickly to replace this layer of skin with new cells.

    Encourage Collagen Growth

One of the reasons why microdermabrasion is so effective is that it stimulates collagen growth. Collagen is a protein that is required for smooth, tight skin. By stimulating collagen growth through microdermabrasion, you can actually give a client a younger-looking complexion.

    Leave Room for New Skin

The microdermabrasion procedure is able to give clients younger-looking skin with little downtime.  You can offer clients the results they want without the need for more invasive procedures like facelifts. Following the procedure, you need to advise your clients to moisturize, as microdermabrasion removes moisture from the skin.

At New York’s Capri Cosmetology, you will learn how to perform microdermabrasion, waxing, tweezing, aromatherapy, reflexology, chemical peels, and other useful skills that help you start a rewarding career. We also offer other courses to help you prepare for a successful career in the fascinating world of beauty. A Look at Makeup Trends from Spring 2013 Fashion Week

    Last updated 16 days ago

Before you start your beauty school career, you should familiarize yourself with some of the up-and-coming trends in the world of makeup. Spring 2013 Fashion Week displayed a few fabulous new styles that will be big hits among your future clients:

    Red Hot Lips

Although red lips have never really gone out of style, they were very prominent on the catwalks this spring. Designers traveled across the spectrum of tones and shades using everything from soft reds with pink tones all the way to bold black-cherry shades.

    Lively Liner

Designers experimented with eyeliner for Spring 2013 Fashion Week. BCBG opted for a slightly smudged line that closely followed the eye, while Chanel makeup artists played with dark liner that contrasted with lighter eye shadows. Last year’s cat-eye trend is also still turning heads.

    Stare-worthy Lashes

This year’s runways were all about the eyes. In addition to striking eyeliner, designers also spent time focusing on enhancing eyelashes to really make the eyes the stars of the show. Whether you prefer a bold, clumpy look for creative appeal or long, thick, endless lashes, you should perfect this skill to help your clients make their eyes pop.

    Big Brows

Forget the pencil-thin eyebrows of the past—this year, designers chose to embrace natural, bold eyebrows. Use brow brushes and liner to darken and highlight a client’s natural brow line to make his or her eyes even more noticeable.

Whether you want to focus on makeup or cosmetology, Capri Cosmetology helps you learn the skills you need to start a career that you love. As one of the top beauty schools in New York, we make it easy to find your true calling. To learn more about our programs, take a look at our website or give us a call today at (845) 536-5046.
