Passing the board exam for the State of New York will certify you to practice cosmetology—these tips, along with the guidance you receive from your cosmetology school, can help you pass your test and start working as a licensed cosmetologist:

Practice Good Study Habits

Don’t cram for this important exam. Spend the weeks or months leading up to the exam setting aside time each day to work on mastering the information the test will cover. Don’t put off the subjects that challenge you. Ideally, you should tackle tough subjects first so that you have time to work through these challenges.

Get Feedback

Studying with friends can help you in a variety of ways. Your friend may easily understand a concept that challenges you, and she may be able to help you understand it as well. Your friends are also great resources as you practice for the practical portion of your exam. Your friends’ satisfaction with your hairdressing skills can be a good indication of what you need to practice or what you’re doing well. Stylist from London, Keith Cooper, Visits Capri!

Keith will be visiting Capri Cosmetology Learning Centers during the week of May

10, 2010. He will be offering Advanced Haircutting Courses to Capri students as

well as Capri graduates and anyone else who is interested. Keith will also be

spending an evening talking to prospective students about the great rewards the

beauty industry has to offer.

Keith Francis Hair and Beauty is now entering into its 20th year.

In 1990 Keith opened his first salon with two stylists and one trainee in

Tenterden, a town in the heart of the Kent countryside, 50 miles south of

London. Keith Francis now has over 50 employees and is still growing, with two

hair salons and the recent addition of Esthetics and Make-Up, which is now

available in both salons.

Keith has 31 years experience in the hair industry and has visited the United

States on many occasions, working and carrying out demonstrations at some of

the largest shows, including The I.B.S. in New York, the Mid West Show and The

Los Angeles State show.

Based in Washington DC, Keith worked for five years as an Art Director for

Graham Webb International. Here he demonstrated advanced cutting courses,

and photographic sessions. Keith has visited all 52 states in the U.S. and has

many times demonstrated for L'Oreal, Redken, Matrix and Graham Webb Intl.
